Rice Bowl with Spicy Bean Sprout and Ground Pork Miso

Rice Bowl with Spicy Bean Sprout and Ground Pork Miso

You don't need a knife or a cutting board to make this recipe, which uses cheap ground pork and crispy bean sprouts! Use a homemade spicy miso blend to make an easy, hearty spicy rice bowl.

Ingredients: 4 servings

Bean sprouts
1 bag
Ground pork
250 to 300 g
★ Miso, mirin
2 tablespoons each
★ Sugar
1 tablespoon
◎ Grated ginger
To taste
◎ Soy sauce, sesame oil, sake
about 1 tablespoon each
◎ Doubanjiang
1 teaspoon plus
Katakuriko (to thicken)
1/2 to 1 tablespoon

Steps

1. Stir fry the bean sprouts quickly, add the ground pork and stir fry some more.
2. Put the ★ ingredients in a container and mix well to make the sweet miso. If it's hard to mix, microwave briefly.
3. Flavor the stir fry with the ★ and ◎ ingredients, and thicken with katakuriko dissolved in water. Drizzle sesame oil at the very end.

Story Behind this Recipe

This spicy yet sweet miso is a staple in our house, and I use it to season seasonal vegetables and meat stir fries.
