Stewed Crab Sticks and Cabbage with Sesame Seeds

Crab sticks are not only good raw, but can be stewed, too. They make a good broth, and bring out the sweetness of cabbage. This recipe also works with Chinese cabbage.

★Mirin
2 teaspoons
Usukuchi soy sauce
1-2 teaspoons (adjust to taste, depending on saltiness of crab sticks)
Ground sesame seeds

Steps

1. Chop the cabbage into bite-sized pieces. (The photo shows them cut into 3 cm strips.)
2. Cut the crab stick in half, then shred.
3. Combine the cabbage, crab sticks, and the ★ ingredients in a pot, cover with a lid, and simmer over low-medium heat until cabbage becomes tender.
4. Once the cabbage is tender, add the usukuchi soy sauce to taste depending on the saltiness of the crab sticks. Add the ground sesame seeds and continue to simmer.
