Cut the cucumber into 2 cm round slices or into 5 cm blocky rectangles. Place the cucumber and salt into a plastic bag.
After about 5 minutes, dump out the water. Add the grated garlic, sliced red chili pepper, sesame oil, and sugar. Rub everything together.
Completely remove the air and chill in the refrigerator. You can eat it right away, or after 1 hour!

I was thinking that there should be something I could do with both sesame oil and garlic...Then I decided I wanted to try to make a yakiniku restaurant-style cucumber appetizer! That's how I came up with this dish.
Don't use too much salt. The sugar is used to balance out the flavor so only a small amount should be fine. Don't cut the cucumber too thinly. The cucumbers taste better when they're cut into relatively large sizes.
