10 Minute Spicy & Garlicky Cucumber

The garlic and sesame oil leave a wonderful aftertaste in your mouth. Serve with beer.

Ingredients: 2-3 servings

2 cloves (5 cm if tubed)
*Red chili pepper
1-2 (to taste)
*Sesame oil
2 tablespoons
1-1 1/2 teaspoons
2 pinches (to taste)


1. Cut the cucumber into 2 cm round slices or into 5 cm blocky rectangles. Place the cucumber and salt into a plastic bag.
2. After about 5 minutes, dump out the water. Add the grated garlic, sliced red chili pepper, sesame oil, and sugar. Rub everything together.
3. Completely remove the air and chill in the refrigerator. You can eat it right away, or after 1 hour!

Story Behind this Recipe

I was thinking that there should be something I could do with both sesame oil and garlic...Then I decided I wanted to try to make a yakiniku restaurant-style cucumber appetizer! That's how I came up with this dish.
