Simple Healthy Tonpei-yaki

Simple and Healthy! This tonpei-yaki dish has everything going for it.

Ingredients: 4 servings

Thinly sliced pork belly
180 g
As required
Okonomiyaki sauce
As required
Bonito flakes
As required
Salt and pepper
To taste
Vegetable oil
As required


1. Beat the egg yolks and whites well.
2. Cut the cabbage roughly and cut the meat into 1-cm-lengths. Fry the meat first.
3. After frying the meat add the cabbage and fry. Season with salt and pepper and transfer onto a plate.
4. Heat the vegetable oil in a frying pan and pour over the beaten eggs. Stir gently with chopsticks. After the eggs are softly, turn the contents of the frying pan onto the cabbage from Step 3.
5. Drizzle with the mayonnaise and okonomiyaki sauce over the omelet. Serve.

Story Behind this Recipe

I recreated this Tonpei-yaki dish after I had had one at an Okonomiyaki Japanese pancake restaurant. It is easy and economical.
It contains a lot of vegetable fibres and collagen.
