Kimchi Shiso Onigiri (Rice Balls)

Kimchi Shiso Onigiri (Rice Balls)

I came up with this recipe for onigiri that are outstanding with BBQ. They're so easy to make. You'll gobble up 3 of them.

Ingredients: Makes enough to use 2 rice cooker cups of rice

Uncooked white rice
2 rice cooker cups (360ml)
300 g
Shiso leaves
20 leaves
Roasted sesame seeds
as needed
Flavoring ingredients:
1 tablespoon
Sesame oil
a small amount

1. Wash the rice, add it to the rice cooker, and turn it on ♪
2. Thinly slice the kimchi and shiso leaves.
3. Add the kimchi to a frying pan and stir-fry (adding oil is unnecessary). When it's heated through, add the sugar and stir-fry.
4. Add the cooked rice and stir-fry (use a rice paddle to mix the rice with a cutting motion to avoid breaking the grains of rice).
5. Turn off the heat. Add the shiso leaves, roasted sesame seeds, and sesame oil and mix with the rice.
6. Stir well and then shape into rice balls of any shape you like. All done.

Story Behind this Recipe

Since Kimchi goes so well with BBQ, I created this onigiri recipe.

These were a hit with my friends. They ate them all up so fast, we wished we had more.
