Rolled Pork Cutlets with Sweet Onion

The sweetness of new-harvest onions makes these tonkatsu (pork cutlets) delicious They have garlic in them as well, so you'll be able to absorbe more of the Vitamin B-1 in the pork!

Ingredients: 2 people

Thinly sliced pork (belly or loin)
6~8 slices (depending on the size)
Sliced New Onion (slice as thick as you want)
2 slices
Processed cheese or your favorite cheese
2 slices
Salt and pepper
Finely chopped parsley (fresh)
1 tablespoon (or as much as you like)
Grated garlic
1 teaspoon (or as much as you like)
Flour, eggs, panko
as needed


1. Grate the garlic on top of the onion slices, and top with salt, pepper, and parsley.
2. Add your favorite cheese on top (I used sliced cheese in the photo).
3. Roll it up tightly in the meat. (The size of the rolls will change depending how much ingredients you use).
4. Cook in 355F/180C oil.
5. Enjoy with ketchup, Japanese Worcestershire sauce, or your favorite sauce.

Story Behind this Recipe

This recipe was born when I tried to boost the heartiness of fried pork patties.
This is a dish that I enjoyed from childhood, and still make now.
It's hearty without too many calories; 2 birds, 1 stone.
