Macrobiotic Chocolate-Like Carob Cake

Macrobiotic Chocolate-Like Carob Cake

Carob is a chocolate substitute that'll mildly sweeten the cake. Good for those with cocoa allergies.

Ingredients: 1 large pound cake

Whole wheat flour (or all purpose flour)
150 g
Carob powder
100 g
Baking powder
1 1/2 teaspoons
Soy milk
180 ml
Maple syrup
5 tablespoons
Vegetable oil
2 tablespoons
Chopped nuts, or any topping you like
as desired

1. Put the dry ingredients in a bowl and mix with a whisk. If you're nit-picky about lumps, sift the ingredients before mixing.
2. Add all rest of the ingredients to the bowl, and mix – do not knead – together until the batter is evenly incorporated.
3. Pour the batter into the cake pan, and sprinkle with nuts or any other topping of your choice. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for about 30 minutes.
