Cheese-Flavored Fried Salmon and Spinach

Bite-sized fried salmon and spinach, perfect for bentos. Deep-fried with cheese-flavored coating.

Ingredients: An easy-to-make amount

Lightly Salted Salmon
2 pieces
3 bunches
☆ Cake flour
3 tablespoons
☆ Egg
☆ Salt and pepper
To taste
◆ Panko
6 tablespoons
◆ Grated cheese
2 tablespoons
Oil for deep frying
As needed


1. Rinse the spinach and drain excess water. Cover with plastic wrap and microwave for 1 minute. When it's slightly cooked, squeeze out the water. Chop off the ends.
2. Chop each filet into thirds and remove the bones. Combine ☆ ingredients in a container and mix well.
3. Combine ◆ ingredients in a different container and mix well.
4. Wrap the spinach around the salmon (use about 3 to 4 leaves of spinach for 1 whole piece of salmon.) Wrap firmly beginning with the stem and ending with the leaf.
5. Dredge the salmon and spinach with beaten eggs from step 2, then mixed ingredients from step 3.
6. Here's how it looks like after dredging.
7. Heat oil to 340°F/170°C and deep-fry ingredients prepped in step 6.
8. Flip over and deep-fry until golden brown.
9. Drain excess oil. Chop into halves before serving.
