Crusty Kinako Cookies with Sesame Seeds

No eggs or dairy products! It's only mixing and baking. Sesame seeds add an appetizing aroma to the kinako cookies.

Ingredients: 1 oven-proof plate worth: about 20 cookies

Cake flour
70 g
20 g
10 g
Vegetable oil
27 to 30 g
A pinch
Ground sesame seeds (I used white sesame)
5 g


1. Mix all the ingredients marked . You can also mix in a plastic bag. When you're done mixing, preheat the oven.
2. Form into balls with your hands, flatten, then align on a heat-proof plate. They will be crunchier if you don't make them too thin.
3. Cover with aluminum foil, and bake in the oven for 10 minutes to finish. It's perfect when the bottoms are slightly browned.
4. They fall apart easily when freshly baked, so make sure to cool down well Baking time: 2 minutes to preheat, then 10 minutes to bake.
5. To bake in the oven: about 13 minutes at 355°F/180°C.

Story Behind this Recipe

I wanted to prepare a well-balanced meal for my daughter, who has eating restrictions. When I added sesame seeds to our regular kinako cookies, she really loved the crunchy texture.
