Cured Ham Pizza

Cured Ham Pizza

I think that cured ham pizzas are usually baked first and then topped with ham but even if you bake it with the ham already on top, they still keep their distinctive fragrance.

Ingredients: two pizza pies, each 27 cm in diameter

Pizza base
Basic pizza base (27 cm)
Cured ham (e.g. proscuitto)
12 slices
1/2 medium
Red bell pepper
Button mushrooms (canned)
1 can
Frozen corn kernels
4 tablespoons
Pizza sauce
4 tablespoons
Pizza cheese
to taste

1. Thinly slice the onion, rub with 1 teaspoon salt and leave for 15 minutes. Wash off the salt with water. Squeeze and pat dry with a kitchen towel.
2. For the pizza sauce, you can either use a store-bought one or a home-made one (I'm going to upload a pizza sauce recipe sometime in the future).
3. Prick holes all over the basic pizza base (Recipe ID: 1043830) with a fork.
4. Spread 2 tablespoons of pizza sauce over the base...
5. Sprinkle the onion, red bell pepper, corn and mushrooms over the top of the pizza and arrange the ham in a circle.
6. Top with plenty of cheese, and bake for 10-12 minutes at 300℃.
7. Eat your pizza just out of the oven and savour the thick cheese and crispy base!

Story Behind this Recipe

I think a lot of people place the cured ham on top after the pizza has baked, but I can't be bothered with that, so I bake it with the ham already on. It's strange but the taste of the cured ham remains, without it burning.
