Steamed Double Chocolate Buns with Pancake Mix

Steamed Double Chocolate Buns with Pancake Mix

Add chocolate chips to the chocolate batter for a double punch of chocolate. Enjoy as a snack, for breakfast, or give away on Valentine's Day. You can store these buns in the freezer for later.

Cocoa powder
2 tablespoons
Pancake mix
200 g
as needed (optional 0 - 30 g)
Vegetable oil (optional)
1 tablespoon
Chocolate chips
about 30 g

1. Heat the steamer. Put aluminium (or paper) cupcake liners in the cupcake molds.
2. Mix the egg and sugar together in a bowl with a whisk. Add the milk (and vegetable oil) and mix some more.
3. Add the pancake mix and cut and fold it in with a rubber spatula.
4. Finally, add the cocoa powder and combine gently.
5. Pour the mixture into the cupcake molds until about 70% full.
6. Make sure the water in the steamer is boiling, and place the cupcake molds in the steamer. Steam for 10 - 15 minutes. Poke a skewer into the buns, and if it comes out clean, they are done.
7. Add vegetable oil to the mixture if you like. It'll result in moist buns.
