Add the chocolate, water and sugar into a small pan and melt on a low heat, stirring with a wooden spatula.
Once the mixture has boiled, keep stirring with a wooden or rubber spatula so that the mixture doesn't burn to the sides. Once the mixture is smooth like the photo, stop the heat.
Add the butter and mix well to complete the sauce. Pour the sauce into something like an empty jam jar and store in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
Use this sauce with ice cream or pancakes. Or even add it to milk and make a hot chocolate. Use it in any way you like!
Story Behind this Recipe
This is a simple chocolate sauce.
When the chocolate has melted, it may seem like the water and oil have separated, but keep stirring the mixture so that it doesn't burn to the sides and it will get nice and smooth. Of course, when this mixture cools it will become hard and sticky, but just add what you need to a container and microwave before use. I recommend using couverture chocolate.
