Add the butter after the dough has formed a good stretchy film of gluten. (At this point, you should be able to see through the dough if you stretch it out thinly enough.)
If using a bread machine, add all of the ingredients other than the butter and let it start kneading. After about 10 minutes, add in the butter.
[Ideal milk temperature] It should be about 30°C in spring or fall, 10°C in summer, and heated up in the microwave until it's about 45°C in the winter.
[Temperature of the butter] In order to keep the dough at an ideal temperature, be sure to use room temperature butter so it can be easily mixed in.

Story Behind this Recipe
I used leftover egg yolks from baking chiffon cake to make this moist and rich bread dough.
When kneading the dough in the bread machine, if you put in all of the ingredients, including the butter from the start, the finished bread will become stale faster. I used Super Camellia Flour. (If using strong flour made in Japan, reduce the amount of milk a bit.) I used medium-sized eggs.
