Japanese Leek Chijimi

The soft and crispy texture and flavor of the leeks together with the fluffy chijimi is super tasty. No need for any sauce. It tastes 100 times better than the photo looks.

Ingredients: 2 servings [or 1 generous serving]

● Japanese leek (finely chopped)
1/2 a stalk
● Egg
● Cake flour
4 tablespoons
● Katakuriko
1 tablespoon
● Sesame oil
1 tablespoon
● Salt and pepper
1/3 teaspoon
● Baking powder
1/2 teaspoon
● Water
50 ml
Vegetable oil (for frying)
3 tablespoons + 2 tablespoons


1. Combine all the ● ingredients in a bowl, and evenly blend until smooth.
2. Heat 3 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat, and spread oil evenly. Pour the batter into the pan, making a large pancake.
3. Fry slowly over medium heat, then once it turns to a golden brown, flip. Pour 2 more tablespoons of vegetable oil around the edges, then remove from the pan when it's cooked.
